I play it all the time in everything from Big Bands to Military/concert bands (Taking out my Bach Strad that is worth in excess of 2k is a special occurrence these days) It is either a clone of or a re stenciled version of the Yamaha 2000 series horn and will be fine for what you want. Newer ones, and King, which is essentially the same horn since UMI owns both, are just Ok. There is no way you'll find folks recommending Chinese/Indian horns yet. Lots of good makes, and most of them are fine for starters. Designed by Zig Kanstul, whose own line of horns are great (sold my Kanstul just a year ago after years of playing in a quintet). As mentioned, Olds Ambassadors are great horns. is one of the best resources for trumpet info. Or, it could be a dent in the valve wall, which means it has to be fixed by a tech. A soak and penetrating oil will get things moving again in that case. Stuck valves can simply be from letting the horn sit for years. A good brass tech can fix most problems quickly and usually pretty inexpensively. Yamaha 2335 if you can find one in your price range.
